Between December 2005 and January 2007, four Composix Kugel Mesh Patch recalls were initiated by the product manufacturer - Davol, Inc.-because of device defects . The recalls were prompted by numerous reports of broken recoil rings, which are responsible for opening the patch once it has been surgically implanted in a patient.
